Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse

The Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse, located at 1828 3rd Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201, was built in 1920 and was formerly known as the Fort Armstrong Theater. This community theatre has been around for over 50 years and has produced over 70 productions. The most popular shows have been “Seussical” and “Winter Wonderland.” The company has performed Irving Berlin’s classic “White Christmas” several times and was excited to bring the show back when the rights became available. The theater is also currently presenting another musical called “Clue: The Musical” and exploring the interactive theater aspect of a musical.

This building, formerly a lumber mill, was built in 1874 by local lumber mill owner Louis C. Dessaint. In 1912, the house became a museum with two permanent exhibits and a rotating exhibit. Among its highlights are its three restored hotel rooms and its unique history.
